AGRICULTURAL MARKET INSIGHTS & TRENDS FROM AGRITEL
June 04, 2019
Every two weeks, Euralis Seeds will publish a newsletter, in partnership with Agritel, on trends and the agricultural market.
Lets’ see, how market situation has evolved since last two weeks.
There has been very little price movement on the oilseed complex over the past two weeks. Given the weather forecasts for the USA, however, it is highly likely that in addition to a fall in soybean acreage there will also be a loss of yield potential. This will have only a very slight effect on the global balance sheet. European rapeseed production has been revised down again to just 17.3 million tonnes according to Agritel.
Cereal prices are making significant headway; this is a consequence of the torrential rain in the US Corn Belt and could lead to a fall in the maize acreage of several million acres for the next campaign. With regard to wheat, concerns about a deterioration in quality are leading to the buyback of positions, with an increasing quality premium. Some conflict can therefore be seen on the markets, between forecasts of abundant harvests in Europe and concerns about quality on the North American market.
